Texas Regional Bank has appointed Trey Willerson, CFA, as President of TRB Trust & Wealth Management, expanding his responsibilities while he continues to serve as Chief Investment Officer.
The Houston-headquartered division manages more than $4 billion in assets and serves clients across Texas.
Willerson joined Texas Regional Bank in 2024 as Chief Investment Officer. His new role extends his responsibility across the Trust & Wealth division while maintaining continuity in investment leadership.
Investment and fiduciary responsibilities
TRB Trust & Wealth Management combines investment management and fiduciary administration with financial planning and family-office capabilities.
The structure is relevant to families whose financial affairs extend beyond portfolio management.
Business ownership, trusts, estate planning, investment strategy and intergenerational transfers can create overlapping requirements that need to be coordinated rather than managed in isolation.
For bank-owned wealth businesses, the ability to combine fiduciary expertise with broader banking capabilities can also be relevant where family wealth remains closely connected to operating companies.
Continuity of investment leadership
Willerson's appointment keeps the investment function and broader divisional leadership closely connected.
For private-wealth organisations, that relationship can be important. Investment decisions sit within a wider framework of fiduciary obligations, client objectives, governance and long-term planning.
The appointment therefore represents more than a change of title. It places the division's investment leadership at the centre of its broader trust and wealth-management strategy.
