Regal Healthcare Capital Partners has completed the final close of its fourth private equity fund, RHCP IV, with $610 million in total commitments.
The New York-based healthcare private equity firm had originally targeted $550 million.
Approximately $575 million of the final total comprises external commitments.
Since 2018, Regal says it has raised nearly $1.3 billion of aggregate commitments across its first four funds.
Broadening the LP base
Fund IV received commitments from existing investors and new investors, including endowments and foundations, asset managers, consultants and public pension plans.
The fundraise expanded Regal's investor base by geography and investor type.
Lazard served as exclusive placement agent, while Kirkland & Ellis acted as legal counsel.
Healthcare services focus
Regal focuses on lower-middle-market healthcare services companies in the United States.
The firm generally targets businesses with approximately $20 million to $100 million of revenue and $2 million to $10 million of EBITDA, with equity investments typically around $75 million.
Healthcare services remain an established area of private-equity activity, combining demographic demand with opportunities to develop and scale provider-led businesses.
The close is also relevant to institutional and private investors assessing manager selection in specialist private-market strategies. Sector expertise, deployment discipline and the ability to create value at operating-company level remain important considerations alongside headline fund size.
