Oxford's professional services market is built on two universities, a deep bench of legal, accountancy and wealth management talent, and a wave of firms following their clients into the county's science and technology districts.
Mishcon de Reya: the first office tenant at Oxford North
The clearest recent signal of that shift came in November 2025, when Mishcon de Reya became the first office tenant at Oxford North, the city's new innovation district. The London-headquartered international law firm took a five-year lease on 3,500 sq ft on the first floor of The Red Hall for its Thames Valley team, which relocated there in spring 2026.
The team's practice spans life sciences and healthcare, space and defence, AI and blockchain, deep tech and quantum, and energy and climate — a client mix that mirrors Oxfordshire's own economic strengths.
A broad legal, accountancy and wealth management base
Alongside Mishcon, Oxford's legal market includes established local and national names such as Blake Morgan, Freeths, Mills & Reeve, Penningtons Manches Cooper and SE Solicitors.
The accountancy market spans the Big Four alongside independents including Gravita, James Cowper Kreston, Price Bailey, Shaw Gibbs, Wellers, Wenn Townsend and Whitley Stimpson, and wealth management is served by firms including RBC Brewin Dolphin and Raymond James.
Oxera and Oxford Policy Management, both consultancies that originated in Oxford, remain among the county's most recognised names in economics and development policy respectively.
Innovation finance and spinout deal flow
On the innovation finance side, Oxford University Innovation is the University of Oxford's commercialisation arm and the natural first point of contact for investors seeking spinout deal flow. It was named directly by Samsung Electronics as an early investor in Oxford Semantic Technologies ahead of that company's 2024 acquisition.
