HSBC announced on 6 July 2026 the appointment of Nick Elias as Head of Wealth Platforms, Wealth and Premier Solutions, effective 15 August 2026. Based in London, he will report to Lavanya Chari, Head of Wealth and Premier Solutions.
The remit
In this new role, Elias will enable HSBC to further embed AI into platforms and services to make interactions with clients simpler, faster and more personalised. He will also lead the Wealth Transformation Programme to build a future-proof wealth business model.
The bank says he will accelerate client experiences, deliver AI capabilities that support client-facing colleagues and embed them in client journeys. This includes scaling Wealth Intelligence, HSBC's generative AI platform that supports client outcomes through market insights and personalised investment strategies.
Background
Since joining HSBC in 2012, Elias has held multiple leadership roles across frontline corporate banking, wholesale banking and frontline transformation. He is currently Global Head of Customer Relationship Management within the Corporate and Institutional Banking Chief Operating Office function, where he has led the digital vision for CIB's global frontline ecosystem and the delivery of AI-enabled platforms across the client lifecycle.
Commentary
Lavanya Chari, Head of Wealth and Premier Solutions at HSBC, said: "Nick's appointment is a key milestone for our wealth business. It strengthens the digital platforms that power our proposition and accelerates our AI capability, so we can bring deeper insight, more personalisation, and a better end-to-end experience as clients pursue their wealth goals."
Why family offices should note it
The appointment places an executive from the institutional side of the bank in charge of wealth platform infrastructure, which is a signal about where the capability is expected to come from: the corporate banking frontline technology stack rather than the private banking front office.
For family offices that use large private banks as custodians, reporting counterparties or execution venues, platform decisions of this kind eventually shape data delivery, reporting quality and the practical usability of the relationship. Technology and data infrastructure inside the family office and its counterparties is a standing subject at UKFOS Oxford 2026.
