Matt Walker, founder and CEO of Fortitude Family Office, has been named Advisor of the Year in the Regional – Southwest category at the 2026 InvestmentNews Awards.
The award was presented in New York following a process involving industry nominations, research and evaluation by an independent judging panel, according to Fortitude.
Walker is a CPA and CGMA and founded Fortitude Family Office in 2021.
Building an integrated family-office model
Fortitude says it has grown from six employees and approximately $126 million in advised assets to around 40 professionals advising more than $3 billion in public and private assets.
The firm's model combines investment management, tax planning, accounting and family-office services within one organisation.
That integrated approach reflects one of the central operational questions facing wealthy families: whether investment, tax, accounting, estate and administrative responsibilities should remain distributed across multiple providers or be coordinated through a more unified structure.
Fortitude's stated objective is to reduce that complexity by bringing the different disciplines together.
Professionalisation of family-office services
As family wealth becomes more complex, the operational architecture supporting it can become as important as investment selection.
Tax, reporting, entity management, governance and investment oversight increasingly intersect. A decision in one area can have consequences across several others.
For families, the relevant lesson is not that there is one correct operating model. It is that clear coordination, accountability and access to specialist expertise become increasingly important as complexity grows.
