
Qatar Investment Authority (QIA) has participated in a $380 million Series D funding round for Nearfield Instruments, a developer of advanced semiconductor 3D metrology and process-control technology.
The round was led by Fidelity Management & Research Company, alongside Temasek, Walden Catalyst Ventures, Innovation Industries, M&G Investments, Invest-NL, TNO Ventures and ING.
The financing values Nearfield Instruments at $1.6 billion.
According to the announcement, the oversubscribed financing is the largest deep-tech funding round completed in the Netherlands.
Nearfield Instruments said the capital will be used to accelerate its innovation roadmap, establish Applications Centers of Excellence internationally, expand production capacity, strengthen global customer support and deepen collaborative research and development with semiconductor manufacturers.
The company develops metrology and inspection technology used to control advanced semiconductor manufacturing processes, improve yield and support manufacturability.
QIA said the investment is aligned with its focus on technology-enabled businesses with growth potential across the AI technology stack.
