Matt Francis

Matt Francis became Chief Executive Officer of The Oxford Trust in September 2026, working with the Board of Trustees to lead the charity’s strategic direction and future growth. He is responsible for advancing the Trust’s mission to “encourage the pursuit of science” through its innovation programme and STEM education and engagement programme, delivered through Science Oxford. Matt brings extensive experience in science and technology innovation, business development and operational leadership. Before returning to The Oxford Trust as CEO, Matt was Head of Science and Technology at Oxford Innovation Space, where he led business development across its science and technology portfolio. He built strategic partnerships, identified new opportunities and supported the expansion of its laboratory portfolio across the UK, while overseeing the day-to-day operations of the laboratories already under management. Previously, Matt spent almost a decade at The Oxford Trust, including five years in senior leadership roles as Director of Operations and Enterprise, and Project Director. During that time, he led the successful delivery of the £13 million Wood Centre for Innovation development, including the Science Oxford Centre, helping to establish a thriving hub for science education, innovation and entrepreneurship in Oxfordshire. Alongside his professional career, he is a trustee and former Chair of Justice in Motion, an arts and social justice charity. Passionate about the role science and innovation can play in creating opportunity and positive social impact, Matt is committed to building on the Trust’s more than 40-year legacy. He is excited to work with the Trust’s team, partners, supporters and communities to inspire future generations and support the next wave of science and technology entrepreneurs.
